-mean overall thickness of cortical ribbon reduced in MS patients v controls

-significant main effects for disability, disease duration, T2 and T1 lesion volumes

-distinct distribution of significant focal thinning of the cerebral cortext in addition to diffuse cortical atrophy

-focal cortical thinning in frontal and temporal regions was observed, even early in the disease course or in patients with mild disease

-patients with longstanding disease or severe disability presented additionally with focal thinning of the motor cortex area

-focal cortical thinning and an overall reduction of the cortical thickness with disease progression
